Clairemont Mesa is a beautiful northern San Diego community overlooking Mission Bay with canyons and bluffs scattering the land. It lies south of SR-52, east of I-5 and west of I-805 and was first developed in the post-war building boom of the 1950s by real estate developers Lou Burgener and Carlos Tavares. They named their community Clairemont after Tavares’ wife, Marjorie Claire.
Clairemont Mesa is ideally located with the job centers to the north in UTC and Sorrento Valley, and downtown just ten minutes to the South and the bay and beaches just minutes West. Home to Clairemont Mesa are the Tecolote and San Clemente canyons that provide ample opportunity to have a sweeping view and provide a sense of “space” in the sometimes crowded urbanization of our county land.
There are many great neighborhoods to choose from including Clairemont Mesa West, Clairemont Mesa East, Bay Ho, and Bay Park. There’s also the Morena Area running tangential to Morena Blvd and the two parks Tecolote Canyon Natural Park and Marian Bear Natural Memorial Park each have excellent hiking and walking paths to explore.
Clairemont Mesa consists mostly of single-story homes but as time goes by, more and more home-owners are adding second stories to their homes to maximize the value and use of their property. Many opportunities exist for converting a home into your dream home!
